Over
1-4 June, the British contingent with ISAF, despite
being thousands of miles from home, did its best to
join in the celebrations being held to mark Her Majesty
The Queen's Golden Jubilee.
At
Kabul International Airport, five other national contingents
joined off-duty Royal Air Force and Royal Engineer personnel
in day-long festivities, including the chance to soak
senior officers in stocks for charity - the money raised
has gone to a trust fund for a British soldier badly
injured by a land-mine during operations in Afghanistan.
And on a hill high above Kabul, the youngest soldier
and youngest airman serving with the British contingent
lit a Jubilee beacon at sunset on 3 June, accompanied
by a Piper.
